If anything it is your response that comes across as defensive, with nothing to add but an empty backhanded remark.

It was FYI really. A lot of stuff can be done by software, it shouldn't need to involve hardware (NFC). Those capabilities have been around for a few years before NFC, available on iOS.

Another example. You don't need NFC to "bump" files. iPhone app Bump has been around since day one. I got that on my 2007 iPhone Touch. No NFC necessary, its all wifi. It bumps between devices and now it goes to computer as well.

And seriously, if you think you only pay on delivery, you haven't purchased anything online since the mid 1990s. Hard to believe.

Also FYI. Google is not the first in the game with same day delivery.

Never placed an order online before? You pay at "checkout", by keying in your credit card number and hit "submit" on your device of choice. The same with phone orders. You MUST pay at the time of order. No one will send you any merchandise without paying first. Google only delivers AFTER you already paid the merchant. Thus NFC is irrelevant. In fact, delivery services like this existed for many years already, with grocery store orders.

And yes you can use the iPhone to unlock doors as early as 2011. You don't need NFC. You are two years behind in technology.

But thanks for sharing your little Google dream world. I think you tried too hard to justify NFC when in many cases it's unnecessary, or even useless.

And good luck having creepy Google come to your house. Like them stealing your personal data over your computer and Android phone isn't creepy enough, you want them at your house as well.

Not to ask the obvious, but why aren't they using self-driving cars and self-checkout for this? The notion of using humans seems rather primitive...

Car pulls up; you get notification it's in the drive (or at the curb), you go out, your NFC phone unlocks door where your package awaits; paid for with Google Wallet via NFC?

Ah, fly in the ointment, iPhones still don't have NFC...except for that tiny glitch, it would all be possible?

Right, right. That almost - *almost* - compares to the thousands of years women have been treated as second class citizens, treated as breeding chattel, treated as domestic slaves, and have been denied numerous rights afforded to men. *Almost* compares.

Here's a thought: if men face disparate jail sentences, maybe they should commit fewer crimes - instead of the majority. If men are killed on job sites more frequently, then maybe they stop being so cavalier about their personal safety and the safety of others; an issue they are notorious for. If men die so frequently in war, perhaps they shouldn't start so many wars; if men so frequently lose custody, maybe they should be better fathers. Maybe, above all, men should stop blaming women for the problems they face and man up.
